38 week update...

I am currently 2cm, 90% effaced, and baby is in -1 station. We're progressing nicely! Doctor said because I'm a first time mom I can either have him in a few days or a few weeks. It all depends on when he's ready.

School is finally over!! I finished the semester with a 96%. I'm very happy because I've never worked so hard in my entire life. Now I'm waiting for mom and Keith to arrive!

I'll update on any progress I'm having but my next appointment isn't until next Thursday.

Hurry Up Baby Boy!!! :)

38 Weeks :)

How far along: 38 weeks/ 9 1/2 months pregnant/ Full Term
Total weight gain: 30lbs total.
Maternity clothes: I wear anything comfortable but most stuff doesn't fit. Even some of John's clothes.
Sleep: It changes everyday. Sometimes I sleep all night and sometimes I'm up most of the night.
Best Moment this week: My prenatal massage, which was wonderful! I had an amazing last weekend with John. I finally entered my LAST week of school for the semester! Also, today I held my friend's 12 day old little boy. Awww, he is soooo cute and it makes me not able to wait to hold my little man!
Movement: There is still movement from him, but I can tell he's starting to get cramped.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I've had lots of contractions but not anything that can be timed. He is due in 2 weeks! I've given him the eviction date of Aug.1st so we'll see if he listens. Ha!
Belly Button: Out unless there is a contraction. The tightening pulls it in. (I'll try to get a picture, Christine :))
Cravings: Burritos! I had Chipolte today...
What I miss: My skinny face. Also, my feet and legs are swollen everyday now. I'm ready for that to be over with.
Stretch Marks: No stretch marks yet except the dark line below and above my belly button.
What baby is up to: Hey, your little one isn't so little anymore, weighing close to seven pounds and measuring 20 inches long. Fetal development is nearly complete as your baby tends to a few last-minute details like shedding the skin-protecting vernix and lanugo. He's also producing more surfactant, a substance that prevents the air sacs in his lungs from sticking to one another once he starts to breathe. Most of the changes this week are small but important: He’s continuing to add fat and fine-tuning his brain and nervous system. *** I copy and paste 'what baby is up to' from a baby website. The weight and length are just an average and I really have no idea how much he weighs. At my last appointment the doctor said he's measuring right on schedule so I'm assuming he is going to be somewhat of an average baby. No one really knows until he's born.*** :)
What I am looking forward to this week: My final exam and 38 week appointment tomorrow. Mom and Keith will be here Friday!!! Also, if baby boy decides to grace us with his presence this week, then I'm looking forward to that as well.

(This was taken on our date night, so I'm really 37 1/2 weeks.)

Maternity Pictures

These are a few pictures from our maternity photo shoot. I have some on Facebook, but these are a few different ones. We had a great time and are very happy we decided to take them. It will be fun to look at years from now.

37 Weeks/ Full Term!!!

How far along: 37 weeks/ 9 months pregnant/ Full Term
Total weight gain: 30lbs as of today.
Maternity clothes: I wear anything comfortable.
Sleep: It changes everyday. Sometimes I sleep all night and sometimes I'm up most of the night.
Best Moment this week: San Francisco! We had such a blast and it was really nice getting out of town for the weekend. We had our maternity photo session which was a ton of fun. I also had my 37 week appointment today. Baby is still growing and in the head down/ face back position. :)
Movement: There is still lots of movement from him, though less kicks and more rolling around.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I've had lots of contractions but not anything that can be timed. They are very sporadic. He is due in 3 weeks!
Belly Button: Out unless there is a contraction. The tightening pulls it in. (I'll try to get a picture, Christine :))
Cravings: Burritos!
What I miss: My skinny face.
Stretch Marks: No stretch marks yet except the dark line below and above my belly button. Fingers crossed it stays this way!
What baby is up to: You've got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn't mean he's finished growing — in fact, he's still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so he’s probably not kicking as much, though he’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, your little superstar is busy rehearsing for his big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking his thumb, blinking, and turning from side to side.
What I am looking forward to this week: The very last weekend of John, Riley, and I as a family of 3. This weekend will be the last one where we can do what we want, when we want. There is going to be lots of being lazy and just hanging out. Our little life is about to be turned upside down! And I can't wait. :)

San Francisco!

Be Prepared: Lots of pictures! :)

John and I went to San Francisco for a weekend getaway and had an amazing time! It was so nice to get out of town for a day and just explore the city.
A view of the Golden Gate Bridge covered by fog.

Riley and I by the beach area, which was less than a minutes walk from the hotel.

While walking around Fisherman's Wharf, I decided to sit on a bench while John ordered us a pizza (which was amazing, btw) and this was our view while we ate lunch.

There was alot happening on the level below us and Riley needed to keep his eyes on things. (He's under the bench.)

We stayed at  a Kimpton Hotel. They treat pets just as well as people, so it is by far one of our favorite places to stay. The room is a little small, but it worked for us. The employees treat the dogs (especially Riley) like royalty and he was showered with treats every time we went downstairs. :) If you're traveling with a pet I highly recommend this chain of hotels. The price is worth it!

I thought this would be a cool picture.

Our only family photo. We were skeptical on offering our camera to people to take a picture of us, but these people had a better camera than us so we thought we'd ask. :)

View of the city from a pier.

We found a bench in the most perfect spot at a park area (again, just a minute from our hotel) and sat here about an hour just people watching. It was such a beautiful day!

My favorite pup and I.

Father and son. :)

Riley was SO tired that night. We walked all day long with very little breaks. The dog bed is a courtesy of the hotel.

Looking up at the street in front of us. We were on our way to Lombard Street (the "crookedest" street ever).

Driving down Lombard Street. You can see the crowd at the bottom. It was very awesome to drive this.

Does this street look familiar, Mom?

Leaving San Fran, saw this, and had to take a picture.

Riley on the ride home. He was actually smiling while I was taking the picture, but in the last second he stopped and I couldn't get him to smile again. He had a great time and loved socializing with all of the people and dogs.

Again, John and I had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home. However, we had our maternity photo shoot last night that we were looking forward to, which ended up being really great and we had such a great time taking them! I should have those pictures back in about a day so I'll blog them when it get them. In two more days I'll be FULL TERM!

36 Weeks

How far along: 36 weeks/ 9 months pregnant.
Total weight gain: 29lbs as of yesterday
Maternity clothes: I wear anything comfortable.
Sleep: It changes everyday. Sometimes I sleep all night and sometimes I'm up most of the night.
Best Moment this week: Spending the weekend with John. It's so wonderful to be back to our normal lives. We also had our 36 week appt. yesterday which was great.
Movement:  He had been head down, faced up, but at my appt. yesterday the doctor confirmed he flipped over. Finally! There is still lots of movement from him.
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I've had lots of contractions but I still can't tell the difference between real or false. At yesterdays appointment while I was laying back , the doctor asked if I could feel "that" (his hands were on my belly). I said yes, because I was feeling the baby move. He said "that's a contraction". I told him I had been feeling that for a couple of weeks, I just assumed it was baby. He said it was completely normal and it should be happening because my body is getting ready for labor. So apparently there are labor signs but he's not due for another 4 weeks.
Belly button: It's out.
Cravings: Burritos. But I don't really crave anything. Most days I wish I could skip eating because I always feel so full and my stomach is constantly tight.
What I miss: My skinny face.
Stretch Marks: No stretch marks yet except the dark line below and above my belly button. Fingers crossed it stays this way!
What baby is up to: Forget your aching back (and everything else!) by trying to focus on your baby, who is now about six pounds and 20 inches long, with soft bones and cartilage to allow a safer journey through the exit door. Most of his systems (from circulatory to musculoskeletal) are ready for prime time, though his digestion system — which has done only practice runs so far — will kick into gear as he takes his first suckle at the breast or bottle
What I am looking forward to this week: Another weekend with John. Two more left together! Also, next Wednesday I will officially be full term. I am so ready to meet our son. I don't think I have ever been so ready for anything in my entire life.

Packed bags and all that...

This past weekend was taken over by the to-do list. We packed our hospital bags....
and John swept out the garage, as well as cleaned the car inside and out.
I was sweating just taking this picture so I can't imagine how he felt. Thanks, babe!
Monday morning we drove to the fire station and they installed our car seat. I'm a freak about stuff like this and I sleep better at night knowing we didn't screw up the installation and our baby will be safe in the back seat of our car. (John added the sheet for Riley when he's in the car, though I can't see him being in it many more times before baby is here.)
Riley supervised all weekend.

Last night our air conditioner went out! Thank goodness today (so far) is relatively decent or Riley and I would be sweating our butt's off. However, I'm a bit nervous because the hottest part of the day is between 4-7pm. We still haven't heard from the A/C people so I have no idea when they plan on making a trip out here, but it better be soon.

* I blogged all of this (except the A/C) yesterday and it did not save so this is a re-do. Hopefully it will work this time. :)

35/35

How far along: 35 weeks pregnant & 35 days until his due date.
Total weight gain: 27 1/2 as of last Friday.
Maternity clothes: I wear anything comfortable.
Sleep: Ugh. I don't even want to talk about it. Baby is getting bigger and because he is face up, the back of his head is leaning on my spine and I have the worst lower back pain which gets pretty bad at night. I don't really sleep now and I rely on naps, but since I didn't get a nap yesterday, I am in a hell of a mood today.
Best Moment this week: John coming home yesterday! By far the best part of the last month. I love that he gets so excited being home. :) We had a wonderful afternoon and we're both looking forward to spending time together this weekend.
Movement:  He's a mover!
Gender: Boy!
Labor signs: I've had Braxton Hicks since 29 weeks, but I believe false labor is making it's way into my daily life. I was up for a while in the middle of the night getting into different positions to get the cramping and back pain to go away. However, he is due in 5(ish) weeks!
Belly button: It's out.
Cravings: Burritos...still. However, I'm at the point where eating constantly makes me want to throw up with the indigestion I'm having, so really nothing sounds good.
What I miss: Not being so irritable and moody everyday (it seems).
Stretch Marks: No stretch marks yet except the dark line below and above my belly button. Fingers crossed it stays this way!
What baby is up to: Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds. Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.
What I am looking forward to this week: John left June 9th for a work trip and got home yesterday. In between he came home for 2 days to re-pack and leave again. I am looking forward to hanging out with my husband and getting our quality time in now before baby comes. We were thinking about a weekend trip but decided we would rather stay home, get the to-do list taken care of, have weekend date nights for the next few weeks, and just vegetate. John and I have 3 more weekends until Mom and Keith get here, then baby will be here shortly after so we want  to just have us time for the next 3 weeks. I'm also looking forward to my 36 week appointment next week.

July 4th Weekend

I am spending today, Sunday, getting things taken care of around the house. John will be home Tuesday (Thank Goodness!) and he can start on the very long list I have for him. :) But  today I am doing small things like sterilizing all bottles, nipples, binkies, and breast pump accessories. I'm also getting rid of the recycling and cleaning the house. I love things that are clean. It makes me sleep better at night. For lunch and probably dinner I made a chili con queso dip in the slow cooker, put it on top of chips, and made nachos out of it. So delicious!

This is making me hungry again.
Since I got pregnant I have been looking for the perfect sling to carry our baby in. I can't imagine having this baby boy inside me for 9 months, delivering him, then wanting to put him down somewhere for most of the day. I'm already very protective of him and the thought of carrying him on me makes me feel a whole lot better. Anyway, I have researched and got several opinions on what people like. I believe it was a blogger who helped me make my final decision that I wanted a Maya Wrap. Women walk around all the time with it and I finally stopped a woman to ask her opinion. I was also able to see and touch the material. It's a bit pricey so I continued to hold off.

Well, last weekend my friend Erin and I went to a pregnancy support group put on by our yoga teacher. A mom showed up with her 11 day old baby girl (OMG I wanted to hold her!!) and her Maya Wrap. She was able to show me how a newborn fits in it and how comfortable it is to wear. Babies are carried around in our stomachs for 9 months and they are constantly moving around and hearing mom's heartbeat. This sling portrays the feeling of being back in the womb. It holds baby tight, right next to mom's heart. Great reviews! Anyway, talking to this woman and actually seeing a baby in it sealed the deal for me.  I purchased one that Monday and received it yesterday. I am still trying to get the hang of it but I put a stuffed bear in it to show what it looks like.
Obviously, the extra material is for making the wrap bigger once baby gets bigger and for breastfeeding. If I wanted to BF in public, I would take the longer part and toss it over my shoulder, over baby's head. Anyway, I love it and am so happy I made this choice. I am so ready to put my little man in it and carry him with me everywhere!
