Movin' In!

Hey everyone!! We are officially moved in! We're not unpacked or anything but our stuff is at the house. I still don't have pictures for you because we won't be getting internet until Nov. 20. Sorry. I'm at Starbucks now typing this. I'll blog later about our trip but it was so much fun. We had a blast and struggled a little with the times change as well as going from eastern time zone to central to mountain, then to pacific. Our bodies are a little off but we're slowly starting to adjust. Once internet is set up I will post pictures. Thanks for all of the calls and texts this past week. It's be alot of change and it was wonderful getting everyones well wishes :)

Moving Day!

The movers have arrived and our house looks weird. I have some pictures but when I went to put the memory card in the laptop, I realized John must have shoved his memory card in there and it's stuck all the way in the computer. It ain't comin out. So no pictures for y'all today. We woke up at 7:30, seeing as how the movers were supposed to be here at 8. They didn't arrive until 10:30. So I'm already exhausted and they've just gotten started. I didn't realize I wouldn't be doing anything. Like, a-ne-thang. I'm holed up in the office playing on the computer and taking pictures I can't post. Riley is sleeping by the door waiting patiently for me to turn away so he can escape and steal the affection of the moving guys. John is out running errands that need to be done and sneaking in a haircut. I think I'm going to go to school today and tell all of the teachers and my kiddies bye and get an oil change for the Explorer.

The past 2 days have been spent doing stuff. Not packing, but 2 days worth of something. Just not quite sure. All of the pictures and curtains had to come off the wall, lots of unplugging and moving stuff to corners of the room for easy packing, taking apart the water bed and wishing it would disappear, packing for a week and a half (plus with a few things we'll need once we're in CA b/c our stuff won't arrive until 2 days after we arrive), buying a TV, visiting with family and friends, stripping beds, and laundry up to my eyes. Non-stop.

Well, another company just called me, they'll be here in a second to unhook the washer and dryer. They were supposed to take apart the water bed. My husband about had a cow when I mentioned that someone other than him wanted to touch his bed. So that came apart yesterday just in case this man tried to touch his bed.

The movers will load up everything tomorrow and we'll all head out to CA Wednesday. I'll try to keep up with the blogging but there won't be any pictures for y'all. Sorry. At least until comp is hooked up in the new house.

Talk to y'all soon!

One Day Left!!

Look at my countdown ticker for John. 1 Day! I never thought I would see this day. I remember that ticker saying something like 4 months, 1 week, and 5 days. But here we are. 2 weeks from today we will be in CA. This is all so surreal to me. The Brays will arrive in a couple of hours and I finally get my Riley back. I talked to our landlord and we are all scheduled to move in, the movers have given us a delivery date, and we head home Thursday. It'll be so nice being home, yet we will be so busy that our 2 days home will fly by.

John and I had a great weekend. We took a bunch of pictures so I'll post those later on. Last night was his class party and we had a good time. I was able to meet some of the wives and talking about this experience bonded us. Tomorrow is graduation. I have dreamed about this day for 5 long months. I'll be texting people tomorrow to let them know it's all final and finished! But of course it'll be announced on Facebook as well. I hope everyone has a great day, I'm off to yoga. :)

Wine.. not Whine

John and I may need to ship all of our wine to CA but after checking out Fed Ex, UPS, and USPS it's looking like it may not happen. Do y'all have any ideas on how we can ship wine???

Movin on up

John and I found a house in CA. Yay! We agreed on a house! Ok, anyway. We sent the deposit this week so hopefully I'm not jinxing it by posting this. I'm just going to put pictures of the outside on here and once we move in I'll post more. It's in a really great neighborhood with some shops, parks, and lots of families. The house is a little smaller than what we're used to but it is one of the compromises we made in order to be in such a good neighborhood. It's not too small though, we're going to fit in it perfectly. Riley too. I'm already picturing Colts and Saints flags gracing the front of the house. We gotta represent!
The backyard is perfect. It's big and beautiful! If we were on HGTV I would say it's perfect for entertaining. But lets face it, we don't entertain. We entertain Riley but that's because we're his parents and it's expected. So the backyard is nice for us 3 to hang out. And if you come visit, you can hang out in the backyard to. We may even try to entertain you. Your welcome.
John graduates next Wednesday. Already. His family will arrive Tuesday (YaY! I get to see my sweet baby Riley!!). Then we'll head home Thursday. We're filled with many emotions and they change everyday. Thanks for all of y'alls support throughout the last 5 months. It's been challenging in every way yet our families and friends have helped us navigate through this process wonderfully. I'll try to keep everyone updated during the next 2 weeks. We leave for CA in 2 weeks and 1 day. Crazy, huh? Ok, I'm headed out. Not out out, but off the computer out. I'm still in my pajamas and it's 2 in the afternoon. Nope, not headed out anywhere.

Walking For A Cure

Hey Y'all! John and I are inching closer to his graduation. Just a week and a half left. I am so ready for this! Not quite ready for the move or anything, just ready to live with my husband again. We have been shopping for graduation clothes and CA houses. We found a great house with a fantastic neighborhood that we love. We're in the application process now and we'll be sending out the deposit soon. I'm not going to put up pictures until our stuff is in the house. We have tons of pictures but it has the owners things in there and I don't want to post their stuff all on my blog. So we're excited we found a house and we're some what looking forward to heading out west.

Sunday, John and I are walking for childhood cancer.  I have read this blog for well over a year and I feel like I know this child. So, John and I are walking for him and all of the other children who are either going through or have beaten cancer. We're also walking in honor of those who lives have been lost due to cancer. Feel free to donate to a great cause! You can read all about it  here.

October is also Domestic Abuse Awareness Month! According to the NCADV Public Policy Office, there are 1.3 million instances of domestic physical abuse occurring in this country every year. Eighty-five percent of the victims are women and most are never reported to the police. The strongest risk factor of transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next is witnessing violence between one's parents. Boys who witness domestic violence are twice as likely to abuse their own partners when they become adults. And less than 1/5th of victims in intimate partner violence seek medical treatment following their abuse. Think of your local women's shelter when donating!

I'll post pictures after our walk! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
