Indy 500 Parade

Yesterday was the Memorial, Indy 500 parade. The weather was gorgeous and totally hot! Bob and his friend Rachel met up with us and we had ourselves a good time. Go Butler!

Danika

This is Krista from America's Next Top Model. We really wanted Raina to win and I wish I had a sign that said that. She wasn't even looking at me.

Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Judd
We had a great time! After the race, we stopped at a local gay bar and had the best lunch ever! We came home and lounged around for the rest of the evening. The sun took it all out of us! Tonight we are celebrating our anniversary. John will be gone for our first year and since it's only a few weeks away, we're going to celebrate tonight.

Relaxing Sunday

Sunday was a day of relaxing and spending quality time as a family. Saturday was his party and we wanted some time to just hang out. We heard there were some things going on downtown, so we packed up Riley and headed to the circle. Sadly, the "big thing" downtown was for kids only. That means no doggies. This is John and Riley just after getting kicked out. Poor dog, he can't ever have any fun! We started walking toward the canal. It's one of our favorite places to be. We decided to take advantage of the shaded areas and relax.

Riley soon found his kind of heaven. It was hot Sunday and Riley needed some cooling off!

He's so enjoying it! I took off my flip flops and soaked my feet for a while.

There is a new little place on the canal called "Left Bank Cafe" and we needed a snacky (our term for 'snack') and water. They served dogs their own water bowl. I got fruit and french baguettes. It was more of a large crouton which I enjoyed. John got a crepe wrapped around grilled chicken and spinach. The food was really good! There was also a canal walk for Riley Hospital, which is why there are a million people walking behind me.

It was such a great day and I defiantly will miss these days with John when he's gone.

John's Surprise 35th B-day/ Going Away Party!

A few weeks back I decided to throw John a surprise party. He starts the Academy on his birthday and I know his family would like to celebrate with him. Also, I know John wanted to see his family before he left and there didn't seem to be much time left. I called Thelma, John's mom, and Bob, John's best friend, and put things into motion! He was very surprised! He found out about an hour before but at least it was the day of and not days prior! Bob had the job of keeping John occupied and they went out for pizza and then to Easley's Winery for a drink. Thanks Bob for all of your help!! I got John a Purdue Corn Hole set for his birthday. He has always wanted one and I thought it would be fun to play at his party, so I gave it to him early.

I was so excited to see alot of his family attend. I know it was special for him and that really made me happy.

Thelma was in charge of the cake and she went above and beyond! There were 35 cupcakes and most of the candles were re-lighting ones. It was so funny watching him try to blow them all out! The cupcakes were delicious! Thanks, Thelma and David for everything! Y'all were amazing in everything! David mowed the grass and set everything up outside. Thelma took charge inside and made everything look gorgeous!

All in all the party was a great hit and John was so appreciative and very happy. He thought we all did a great job keeping it hidden. He is so happy he got to see his family before he left, since I know he was starting to stress about that. It was a great day with wonderful weather and amazing company! I couldn't have asked for a better party!

Married 11 months!

Happy 11 months to us! I can't believe it's already a month from our first year. It has flown by so fast! A year ago I was picking up my wedding dress and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I still think it's the most beautiful wedding dress I have ever laid eyes on, but I could be a little biased. I was confirming last minute decisions with the caterer, florist, photographer, the honeymoon cottage, ect. It was alot of phone calls and e-mails. Thank God I had e-mail on my phone or I don't know if it would have all gotten done. At 11 months I wasn't sleeping much because I was constantly thinking about the wedding and if it would all turn out. I was also worried/nervous/anxious/excited/overwhelmed at getting married. I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew it would be great. It was also a time when people whom I barely knew gave their unsolicited advice (not family!!) about how hard the first year of marriage would be.

But here we are, 11 months into it and I can honestly say it has been so absolutely amazing. I have enjoyed every minute of it, including his being laid off. I love my husband more every single day and there isn't any way I could imagine my life without him. I'm so happy I worried about the wedding being nice, but I took more time making sure our marriage would be a happy one, and it is. Our marriage is wonderful, and the wedding ended up being perfect. :)

We're going to celebrate our 1 year this month since we may not see each other June 21 so I'll post pictures of that later!

Riley's rice

Riley locked in the wine room (long enough to take a picture). "I already told you mom and dad, I DID NOT eat the rice off the floor!!"

Mother's Day and so on..

Happy Mother's Day to all the mama's out there!! I hope everyone had an amazing day! My mom and brother, Josh, drove to Indy to see John and I. We had such a great time. It's always hard when they leave. Most of the time was spent in front of the TV, talking. It was great quality time together. Friday night I made smothered chicken (though some people call it stew) and mom made the mac and cheese.... We took tons of pictures! Riley and I posed for a few. There were some ghetto pics, kissing pics, and "remaking" horrible family photo pics like this one.... Haha, I can't stop laughing every time I see this.
Mother's day I made a crawfish ettouffe' for lunch. John spent the day in Batesville with his family. He said they had a great time. We went see a movie that afternoon then took a few family pictures.

Yesterday afternoon we walked the canal and John, Riley, and I took some Spring family pictures. They came out really good! I'll post those when mom gets them to me. Other than that, not too much has been going on. I'm printing out coloring pictures on the letter "Z" for my class and it just dawned on me that we're FINALLY on the letter "Z"! That means school is almost over. 3 and 1/2 weeks until summer break for me, but I'm sending my husband to school for 5 months :( I'm going to miss my buddy. It's been an amazing 15 months together, now on to the real world :) I love my husband and I can't wait to see where our life takes us.

Thanks Kate!

My friend, Kate, just got back from Canada yesterday and bought me a little giftie!! Apparently they have kick a$$ dollar stores up there! I have seen some of the things she has gotten at their dollar stores and let me tell you, it's nothing like the crap you get here. Anyway, she came back to school today and presented me with this: Now how did she know I needed something over our bed, and how did she know that I would LOVE anything Paris related? Because she's the best, that's why! I am very excited to be the recipient of this gorgeous gift, and I will think of a good way to repay her. Bagel? Doughnuts? Hhmmmm....

5 weeks and counting...

This weekend has gone by a little slower than last, thank God, but still not slow enough. Today is 5 weeks until John starts the Academy and I'm finished with work for the summer. Friday night another couple and John and I went to the Rathskeller to listen to The Polka Boys sing. They are a bunch of older, married guys who play polka music to new and old songs. It was alot of fun but completely packed! We danced until 10:30ish then headed off to bar type restaurant where we sat outside, ate salsa, and talked until midnight. It was good catching up with our friends and I can't wait to hang out with them again!
John and I at the Rathskeller.

Do you want to know my favorite part of pedicures? Other than the gorgeous toes, it's a few different things. After I get out of my car and walk towards the nail place, my cell phone goes to silent mode. I spend an hour having my feetsies pampered and loved on. I read a WHOLE magazine in peace. I don't worry at all about my husband calling to ask a question, or a friend texting with the latest work drama. It's completely stress free, my pedicurist doesn't even talk to me. There are no to-do lists to form or lessons to plan. My phone doesn't get turned on again until I am in my car. It's SO nice! So, today I got a pedi. I love the color, however you can see my flip flop tan lines. Oh well, nothing I can do about it until summer when I'm at the beach.
There isn't too much else going on here. John and I did some FBI shopping yesterday and we got him some running shoes and I ordered his sheets. It's really hard finding twin XL sheets when the 'return to college' is nowhere in the near future. But I found some great sheets that I know he will appreciate if only i can keep him from asking how much they cost. :) We're mostly done with the shopping. I can't believe it's in 5 weeks. I'm going to miss him so much but I know we'll get to see each other, hence the flexibility of me not working this summer. Riley and I will get to bond and I'll be able to see my family for longer than a weekend.
Speaking of family, Mom and Josh are coming to Indy! Mom will be here around Wednesday and Josh is driving in Friday night. I can't wait! It's been awhile since I have had family come to see us. I'm already getting a dinner list ready! John is at a movie with Bob and I'm just relaxing and will probably read or get my conference evaluations ready for next week. I hope everyone has a great week!
